I have a lot of them but I’ll tell this story about my mom and their first album (so old it didn’t even have Everybody on it). So, for my birthday, all I wanted was a Backstreet Boys CD and a Pooh Bear cake. Legit. I had the cake. I had a party. I opened all my gifts and there was no Backstreet Boys CD to be found. I was distraught but I didn’t want to show it. I figured my mom must not have been able to find the album. Cut to my mom telling me that she’s going to turn on classical music and me being mortified. I couldn’t understand why she wanted to embarrass me and even worse my friends were co-signing the bullshit! She put in a CD, I covered my eyes and put my head in my lap, and then I heard it - Quit Playin’ Games (With My Heart) was playing and NOT the classical music she had threatened! My mom had tricked me and my friends helped! It was a pretty epic moment in my young life. I was the first of my friends with the CD and my mom was super cool for knowing that would be the song I’d want to hear first! I will never, ever forget that birthday.
